Introduction to the Course (including objectives and requirements)

As a specialized optional course for the masters, thiscourse is to be taught in English. The course aims to give comprehensiveintroduction to basic theories and application of quantitative analysis intransportation system. Through specific research projects, after-class Readingand class discussion, the course can stimulate students’ research interest;cultivate students’ research ability in related fields.

Traffic modeling procedure, least square regression, behavioral modeling and Time Series Analysis; in the class, the research samples will be combined and discussion will be held. Emphasiswill be put on students’ independent ability to do related research. Meanwhile, this course will train students’ English ability in an all-around way. By agreat amount of reading on English literature, this course can improvestudents’ reading ability in scientific papers, meanwhile enabling students tohave a preliminary understanding of the international situation in the field oftraffic safety.
