This presentation outlines the recent work of Dr. Zheng’s team across two key topics. The first topic addresses a critical issue in autonomous driving systems: how human interventions impact the training and safety validation of sensing-centric autonomous driving. The second topic covers the extensive studies on network-level traffic flow modeling and management, which is one of the most important developments in traffic engineering theory over the last decade established by Prof. Nikolas Geroliminis’ group.


ABOUT THE LECTURER


Dr. Nan Zheng is an Associate Professor of Transport Engineering at Monash University. He serves as the Director of International for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as Assistant Dean overseeing the development and operation of Transnational Education Programs and Program Leaders for China. Most importantly, Nan is a Southeast University graduate and alumni, and a former student of distinguished Prof. Nikolas Geroliminis. Dr. Nan Zheng’s research interests include traffic flow theory, traffic big data, urban traffic operation and control, multi-modal and new-generation traffic management. Most of his publications goes to the prestigious journals in traffic engineering, such as in Transportation Research series (Part A, B and C) on these topics.
