The 2026 Annual Conference on Urban Transportation Planning was grandly convened at the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University from July 17 to 18, 2026. Organized by the Urban Transportation Planning Committee of the Chinese Society of Urban Planning and hosted by Southeast University, the conference adopted the theme of "High-Quality Development and Integrated Innovation." Over 450 academicians, experts, scholars, and industry representatives from the urban transportation planning field across the country gathered in Nanjing to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as urban renewal, smart transportation, transportation-energy integration, modern logistics, and metropolitan area governance. As the 38th academic conference organized by the Urban Transportation Planning Committee since its establishment in 1979, this annual meeting also marked the third time it was held in Nanjing, following the events in 2000 and 2006.

Ma Tao, Dean of the School of Transportation at Southeast University, introduced the school's educational traditions, disciplinary characteristics, and development achievements. He stated that the school is strategically aligned with the requirements of building a strong transportation nation and developing new quality productive forces, having established seven new-quality research fields. It is advancing the deep integration of artificial intelligence across the entire process of transportation planning, construction, operation, management, and services, and is committed to contributing Southeast University's wisdom to industry transformation and upgrading and the modernization of urban governance.

As the host institution of this annual conference, Southeast University gave full play to its disciplinary strengths in transportation engineering. The School of Transportation was deeply involved in conference planning, academic organization, guest liaison, logistical support, and volunteer services. Several faculty members participated in keynote presentations, session chairing, and academic exchanges, providing professional and efficient organizational support for the successful convening of the conference.The successful holding of this annual conference established a high-level platform for academic exchange and practical cooperation in the field of urban transportation planning nationwide, and fully demonstrated the responsibility and commitment of the School of Transportation at Southeast University in serving national strategies and promoting interdisciplinary innovation. Going forward, the School will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with academic organizations, government departments, research institutions, and industry enterprises, deepen the interdisciplinary integration of transportation with artificial intelligence, energy, materials, urban planning, and other fields, and contribute more Southeast University strength to the development of a modern integrated transportation system that is safe, convenient, efficient, green, economical, inclusive, and resilient.
