Ziyuan (Frank) Gu is currently an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor with the School of Transportation at Southeast University, China. He obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2019, the double Master’s degree from the SEU-Monash Joint Graduate School in 2015, and the Bachelor’s degree from the Nanjing Tech University in 2012. Before joining the Southeast University, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow for two years at the University of New South Wales, Australia. His main research interests lie in modeling, simulation, and optimization of complex transportation systems. He has published over 40 academic papers in these areas and more than half of them have appeared in top SCI/SSCI journals such as TR Part A/B/C/D, TKDE, and Nature Communications, as well as prestigious conferences such as ISTTT. He has led or participated in several research projects including those from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province. He used to serve as the Session Chair of IEEE ITSC 2019 and ISMT 2021, and currently serves as the Associate Editor of IET ITS, the Executive Chair of ISMT 2024, the Chair of the WTC Transportation System Model and Simulation-Based Decision-Making Technical Committee, the Member of the WTC Multimodal Urban Transportation Systems Analysis Technical Committee, and the Deputy Secretary General of The Young Expert Talent Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Comprehensive Transportation Society. He has received several research awards including the Best Paper Awards from CTS 2023 and ISMT 2023, the Second Prize of the Technological Invention Award from the China ITS Association, the High-Level Personnel of Jiangsu Province, and the Zhishan Young Scholar of Southeast University.
