On December 20th, 2017, the opening ceremony of the joint Institute on Internet of Mobility between Southeast University and University of Wisconsin-Madison and International Seminar on Connected Automated Transportation System Development was held in Nanjing solemnly. Luo Qun, standing committee member of CPC Nanjing municipal committee and standing deputy secretary of CPC working committee of Jiangbei New Area, Zuo Wei, standing deputy secretary of Southeast University, Jeffery Russell, vice president of University of Wisconsin, Cai Renjie, chairman of Jiangsu Communications Holding Co., Ltd, Jin Ling, deputy director of Department pf Transportation of Jiangsu Province, Ding Junhua, deputy director of Department pf Transportation of Jiangsu Province, Chen Ping, chairman of Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd, Chen Xianghui, deputy general manager of Jiangsu Communications Holding Co., Ltd, Ian Robertson, Dean of UW-Madison College of Engineering, David Noyce, chair of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UW-Madison attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wu Gang, vice president of Southeast University.
On the opening ceremony, Zuo Wei, deputy secretary of Southeast University, expressed his welcome and thanks for the participation of distinguished guests and representatives. Zuo Wei said that the intelligent connected vehicle is a great opportunity in the field of transportation, and both Southeast University and University of Wisconsin are proficient in the related disciplines such as transportation, electronics, civil, computer science and automations. The joint institute set up by the two universities would be able to promote the cooperation with each other and multidisciplinary cross-integration, and furtherly build world-class research network of intelligent connected vehicles. The International Seminar on Connected Automated Transportation System Development held at the establishment of the institute would be of great practical and strategic significance for the development of transportation industry. On the ceremony, Wu Gang, vice president of Southeast University, announced the approval of the establishment of Institute on Internet of Mobility, Southeast University and University of Wisconsin-Madison, the director of the institute and the name list of academic committee. Zuo Wei, deputy secretary of Southeast University, and Jeffery Russell, vice president of University of Wisconsin, unveiled the joint institute.
After the unveiling, Ran Bin, director of Institute on Internet of Mobility, Southeast University and University of Wisconsin-Madison, made a report on the development plan for the joint research institute focusing on the team development, collaboration, education and industrial incubation, and put forward the goals for the institute.
In the following International Seminar on Connected Automated Transportation System Development, Wang Wei, Director of Department of Civil and Transportation, Southeast University, Li Keqiang, director of Research Center for Intelligent & Connected Vehicles, Tsinghua University, Zhang Yi, Director of Institute of System Engineering, Tsinghua University, David Noyce, Chair of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UW-Madison, Yan Xinping, Director of Transportation Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology, Xu Zhigang, associate professor from Chang’an University, Li Bin, Vice Dean of Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport gave splendid academic reports respectively.
