To promote global transportation cooperation, strengthen humanistic exchanges in the field of sustainable transportation, share knowledge and experiences in sustainable transportation development, and jointly promote global sustainable transportation development, the first Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange Project-NANJING was held from September 13th to September 16th, hosted by China Sustainable Transportation Innovation and Knowledge Center and organized by School of Transportation at Southeast University.
On the morning of September 14th, the welcome ceremony for the training program was held at the School of Transportation at Southeast University. The attendees included senior experts and scholars from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Brazil. Also in attendance were Guo Jie, the director of the International Issues Research Institute of the China Sustainable Transportation Innovation and Knowledge Center, Liu Pan, the executive vice secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, Wang Chen and Zhang Jingjing, deputy directors of the International Cooperation Office, Chen Jun, the dean of the School of Transportation, Xiong Wen and Xu Chengcheng, relevant teacher representatives, and representatives of international students. The ceremony was chaired by Xiong Wen, the dean's assistant of the School of Transportation.
Later dean Chen Jun, chief professor Zhang Yizhi, vice dean of Southeast University Transportation Planning Instititute Cao Fei respectively made speeches Leveraging the Advantages of Universities to Support Transportation Development —— Southeast University Cultural Exchange, “Sustainable Transport Policymaking Methodologies”, “Transportation Enhances Urban Quality of Life”, sharing academic and on-site project experiences of sustainable transportation, and received enthusiaistic response from the audience.
On the afternoon of September 14th, the attendee visited the Southeast University's History Museum and the Nanjing South Station Comprehensive Passenger Transport Hub, accompanied by Professor Xiong Wen, Associate Professor Wang Jia, and Teacher Zhu Yanjie from the School of Transportation. Through the process the project members learned about the development process and changes of Southeast University, understood the origin of the university motto and recognized the outstanding talents cultivated by Southeast University in different periods. The attendee also walked to visit the campus' Six Dynasties Pine and the Grand Auditorium, among other places.
On September 15th, the attendee visited Nanjing Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall and Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, and marveled at such remarkable construction built at 1960s. Later they took a visit at bridgehead and overlooked the river from a distance.
The project is very successful and comprehensively shows the current development situation in transport industry in univeristies in nanjing. Meanwhile international scholars actively shared their insights in work and expressed tremendous enthusiasm and praise in Southeast University's transportation academic field.
