In September 2024, Stanford University and Elsevier jointly announced the update of the standard citation metrics for the all-discipline author database, and released the 7th edition of the Global Top 2% Scientists List 2024. The list is based on the citation data from the Scopus database for in-depth analysis, and selects the top 2% scientists in the world from nearly 7 million scientists based on six comprehensive indicators, including citations (distinguishing self-citations and external citations), H-index, and HM-factor, according to the two dimensions of career impact and annual impact. The list covers 22 major fields and 174 sub-fields, providing a measure for long-term scientific performance of scientists and reflecting their influence and research achievements more objectively and realistically. The Global Top 2% Scientists List is divided into the Career and Single yr categories. The Career list focuses on the academic career impact of scientists, while the Single yr list focuses more on the academic impact of scientists in the previous year.
11 professors from our school have been selected for the Career-long Impact List, and 7 for the Single-year Impact List.
