主讲人:Juan de Dios Ortúzar
Juan de Dios Ortúzar obtained his Ph.D. at Leeds University in 1980. He is currently Emeritus Professor at the Department of Transport Engineering and Logistics, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Key Researcher at the Institute in Complex Engineering Systems (ISCI), in Chile. Recipient of the Premio Eduardo Charreau (Organization of American States) in 2021, he received a Doctor Honoris Causa (Universidad de Cantabria, Spain) in 2018, the Life Achievement Award (International Association for Travel Behaviour Research) in 2012 and the Humboldt Research Award (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation) in 2010. Prof. Ortúzar has pioneered the application of discrete choice models to determine the willingness-to-pay for reducing externalities (accidents, noise and pollution), with applications in several European and Latin American countries.
He has formed several generations of professionals and specialists (including 18 PhD and 50 MSc) with a profound service vocation, who work in academia, government and professional practice in Chile, Latin America and Europe. He has published over 200 papers in archival journals and book chapters, and co-authored Modelling Transport, a book published by Wiley reflecting the state-of-practice in this discipline, which has sold over 20,000 copies and is now in its fifth edition. He also Co-authored Micro-GUTS, a simulation game to train transport planners, used by more than 50 academic institutions around the world. Finally, he was Co-Editor in Chief of Transportation Research A from 2012 to 2020, and is member of the editorial board of several international journals.
