As a secondary research institute directly administered by the southeast University, the ITS Research Center, which comprises the ITS Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, is among the earliest reseach institutions for intelligent transportation in China. The two sub-disciplines of "Traffic Information Engineering and Control" and "Roadway and Railway Engineering" under teh national key discipline of "Transportaion Engineering" are both authorized to confer the doctoral degrees. The Center boasts a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research team, where research fellows in the fields of intelligent transportation, highway engineering, bridge engineering, rail transit,electronics and electrics and industrial control are integrated to conduct their research and teaching.
